Why the month before Ramadan deserves more attention than we give it, and how to use it wisely.
Ramadan gets all the attention. And it should - it's the month of the Quran, the month of mercy, the month where every good deed is multiplied.
But can we talk about Shabaan for a minute?
The Prophet (peace be upon him) was asked why he fasted so much in Shabaan. He replied:
"That is a month to which people do not pay much attention, between Rajab and Ramadan. It is a month in which the deeds are taken up to the Lord of the worlds, and I like that my deeds be taken up when I am fasting." — Sunan an-Nasa'i 2357
This is the month where our deeds are raised to Allah. This is the month that sits right before the main event, preparing us for what's to come.
And most of us completely ignore it.
Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) reported:
"I never saw the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) fasting for an entire month except in Ramadan, and I never saw him fast more in any month than he did in Shabaan." — Sahih al-Bukhari 1969, Sahih Muslim 1156
I was guilty of this for years. Shabaan would come and go, and suddenly it's Ramadan and I'm scrambling to get into the spiritual zone. Wondering why the first week of fasting feels so difficult.
Allah tells us:
"O you who have believed, bow and prostrate and worship your Lord and do good - that you may succeed." — Quran 22:77
Start your Ramadan preparation now. Get your modest wardrobe ready before the rush. Our Ramadan collection features breathable fabrics perfect for fasting and prayer.
Here's what I started doing: treating Shabaan as Ramadan's warm-up. Fasting Mondays and Thursdays. Cutting back on screen time in the evenings. Actually reading Quran instead of just having it on my shelf.
By the time Ramadan arrives, the transition isn't so jarring. My body is used to fasting. My heart is already turned towards worship.
Don't be one of those people who neglect Shabaan. It's a gift. Use it.
Shabaan is your window to prepare. If you need to stock up on comfortable prayer wear before the rush, we've got you.
